New Businesses in Texas: Restaurants
In 2011, several new restaurants opened in Texas, including both some chain restaurants and some local ones. In March 2011, the burger-chain, In-N-Out Burger opened in Allen, Texas, near Dallas. Since it was the first one of the chain in Texas, several customers drove several miles out of their way just to try the infamous sloppy, tasty burgers. The restaurant had originally planned to open at 10:30 a.m. on opening day, March 11, but due to overwhelming lines, opened early and had steady traffic every since opening day. The employees at In-N-Out Burger appeared hospitable and often hand delivered orders during the rush, and customers seemed pleased with the combination of fresh French fries and tasty burgers.
The Hubcap Grill and Beer Yard opened in July 2011 in Houston Heights. The Hubcap Grill burgers are always prepared with homemade patties, prepared with fresh ground chuck. The restaurant offers some specialty burgers, such as the Texas BBQ Burger, which features 1/3 of pound patty topped with BBQ sausage, BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese, jalapeno peppers, and crispy onions. The restaurant fries its' French fries twice, and at its' new location, it offers many new beer choices. The Houston Heights location features several interactive games, including Ping Pong, a Bean Bag Toss, and a Horseshoe pit, so challenge your friends.
Congress opened at the beginning of 2011 in Austin, Texas. David Bull, executive chef, serves an extensive three-course and seven-course menu, priced at $65 and $95. He prepares a range of dishes, from steak tartare, prepared with rib-eye and complimented with Dijon mustard and black truffle slices to a homemade lobster bisque soup. The chef specializes in both his meat courses and his vegetarian ravioli, stuffed with carrots. The restaurant's signature dessert is bittersweet-chocolate brownies, topped with spiced pecans and chile-infused wafers.
Capellini also opened in the beginning of 2011 in McAllen, Texas. At this authentic Italian restaurant, executive chef Antonio Matarazza prepares his cuisine with the freshest ingredients, including fresh herbs from his garden. His specialty dish, Pollo al Gorgonzola, features chicken, stuffed with gorgonzola cheese and served with garlic mushrooms and prosciutto-wrapped asparagus. For dessert, Matarazza serves an Italian cheese plate with specialty cheese from various areas of Italy like Piave Vecchio and Clarissac, along with seasonal fruit or a mascarpone cheese tiramisu. While the restaurant was originally open only for dinner, it is now open for lunch as well now.
